Spelunking's not exactly my style, Ray. I'll pass for now.

[Venkman settles a little closer to Ray on the couch, giving the Goomy a look as he does so. He hasn't commented on her yet- he's been mostly trying to ignore her for the time being.]

You and Spengs both have one or two dragons so far, don't you? I gotta catch up at some point.

[Elsewhere in the room, his growing horde of cats are playing. Regina, his newly-evolved Luxio, is trying to play with her favorite toys from when she was a Shinx. Sadly, she still doesn't know her own strength,and she keeps accidentally tearing them up and getting frustrated. Nermal and Tarantula, having been there before, are trying to give her pointers, but she keeps insisting she knows what she's doing and doesn't need help.

Garfield is napping.]

[Grandpa definitely sees that look, Venkman, but he'll let it pass for now.]

Aww c'mon, with summer here it might be nice to cool off for a week in the cave!

[He's half joking he still doesn't really like the idea of slipping around for a whole week. He enjoyed traveling in the winter but that's because it wasn't just a sheet of ice.

Ray smiles and hands Venkman Goomy.]

I can let you borrow Big Sis for a little while! I'm sure she'll get along great with your team!

You know what's a better way to cool off? Swimming. And it doesn't involve sliding around on ice in darkness for a week.

[Venkman grimaces, automatically leaning back with his hands up.]

Ohhh, no. No slime, Ray. I don't care if it is a dragon. I had enough slime for a lifetime with Slimer, and that Grimer incident is gonna give me nightmares for the rest of my life.

[The Goomy noticeably deflates, but more importantly that gets the attention of Drampa. Insulting his daughter is probably the worst thing you could do, Venkman, but he'll hold off making a public show out of it. His daughter is pretty good at taking care of herself and will attack if she feels threatened enough.

He is, however, sitting up straight and glaring right into Venkman's soul.

Ray, meanwhile, frowns.]

Aww, c'mon, Pete. She's really neat! Her mucus membrane is so strong that it deflects any punch given to her!

[Ray is a true charmer isn't he.]

Ray, the charms of the mucous membrane are not gonna sway me.

[Venkman feels the eyes of the Drampa boring into him, and he glances over, somewhat unnerved. He forces his attention back to Ray, though.]

I'll never understand how you can handle slimy gunk like that. At least without a hazmat suit.

[Goomy takes a lot of offense to that and blows a raspberry at Venkman, before snuggling back into Ray's arms.]

Hey, I like "slimy gunk"! Besides, all Pokemon in this dimension are amazing! It doesn't matter if you think they're "gross" or not; I love them.

Yeah, yeah, well... Your taste in everything's always been a mess, Ray. In people, in animals, in relationships... Remember when you wanted to have a "meaningful relationship" with Houdini?

[There's a distant yowl from across the room as Regina once again tears one of her toys into pieces. The Luxio hisses, before flinging the remains aside, her tail lashing. She proceeds to trot over to the couch and hop into Venkman's lap- definitely not seeking reassurance and comfort from her frustration. Of course not. It's coincidental.

Venkman obliges, scratching her behind her shoulders. She purrs, leaning into the touch.]

[!!! That raises some real bells in Drampa's head. Ray's a pure soul, and doesn't deserve to be bullied at all, and this sounds suspiciously like he's being a bully to Ray.

Rage is boiling up in the Drampa, but he will wait a little while longer, just to see.

Ray pouts.]

Was I wrong? He turned out to be a great guy after all! Even if it's a mess, at least I'm right.

[He smirks.]

Unless you're saying that my taste in you is bad.

I'm an outlier. Obviously. So is Winston. Egon, on the other hand... That's a little harder to say.

[He's very clearly teasing, judging by the smile on his face. He leans a little closer to Ray, pointedly ignoring the Goomy, and continues to pet the cat in his lap. It'd be a nice moment, if it weren't for the fact that-]

Anyway, you just wanted to get with him 'cause he's a ghost, and you know it.

[-that Venkman is the way that he is.]

[The Drampa moves a tiny bit closer...

Ray tries to pout more but it's clear he's amused by this.]

Just wait'll Egon gets home and I tell him what you think of him.

And what's wrong with being a ghost? He was cool, wasn't he?

Oh, please. He'll forget it in five minutes. Two, if I get him to let me kiss him. You know you two can't stand up to me.

[Possibly not the best way to phrase that while within earshot of an angry Drampa.]

C'mon, Ray. Your thing about ghosts is so obvious, even the people that made the shitty movie about us knew to throw in that little dream sequence for ya.

[Ray's face is now a deep red and he avoids Venkman's gaze.]

Why did you have to bring that up? I still get mail about that scene

[Drampa is right behind you, Venkman.]

[Venkman continues to not notice the Drampa's approach, though Regina pricks her ears up. She glances up at the Drampa, decides she's Not Dealing With This Shit Today, and hops off the couch a safe distance away from her trainer.

He leans a little closer to Ray, grinning.]

Remember when we were all in the theater and that scene started playing? 'Cause I do, and it's still one of the greatest moments of my entire goddamn life. You got so flustered! Made the whole shitty movie worth it.

I got flustered because it was out of nowhere! And I didn't wanna be known as the guy who had sex with a ghost once.

[Not that he ever done it before, honest.

Ray's about to continue before he finally notices the Drampa.]

Uh, Grandpa, why are you...?

[He snorts heavily, glaring holes into Venkman.]

"Once", huh? Oh, I'm sure it was only once, Ray.

[Venkman's really getting into his groove with teasing Ray, when he's interrupted by Ray's words. He turns, and jerks back a bit, away from the dragon looming over him.]

... Can I help you?

[Congrats Venkman, you're now pretty much the go-to guy for Lena's venting when it comes to the weird shit that happens when she runs into Egon]

[He's certainly not complaining- usually when Egon does something stupid, he can only really talk about it with Janine, Winston, or Ray.

Venkman's only got Ray in this universe, and Ray tends to take Egon's side when it comes to incredibly idiotic science misadventures. It's nice to have someone else who actually recognizes that Egon isn't always the "smartest" of the 'busters.

... Plus, he's glad to hear from Lena, anyway. He's been a little worried since the shadow incident over the weekend.]

also once we dealt with a leprechaun curse that could be broken with a four leaf clover and egon insisted on dealing with it with science and went off alone and nearly got himself killed by lions

yeah theres at least two, maybe more. this egon is from a totally different dimension from me and ray. my universe's egon is blonde and has a pompadour

we basically have the same history together, except we're all almost ten years older in egons dimension for some reason? and we look different, and a lot of events tend to follow the plot of the shitty movie adaptation of our lives. its Weird

and believe me i get it- its definitely weird. it took some time to adjust and we still keep figuring out differences between our dimensions or remembering stuff we haven't told him

but its also... not really weirder than most of the stuff weve dealt with in our line of work. like on a scale from "getting kidnapped by vampires" to "dealing with the guy who sold his soul to get rid of chickens", this is kind of around the area of "giant marshmallow god destroying new york".

... so not that bad, comparatively

chicken man was wild, kid. he went fucking crazy over how much he hated chickens, summoned a demon, sent all the chickens to an alternate dimension, then sent US there too when we tried to figure out what happened

then the demon he sold his soul to told us "hey im a laughingstock now among demons because of this chicken dude, please help" so we built robotic chickens to trick the chicken man into bringing the real chickens back

it was a weird day.
