Post Halloween event

[Some days Ray wonder if Halloween is cursed. Yeah, of course it's the day when the dead are most active, but sometimes he wished he could just have a nice Halloween of watching horror movies with the boys and eating leftover candy.

Sure, he's glad he and Venkman were taken by his building friend to stop the Aether foundation's plans, but he's so exhausted now, which is rare for him.

When they finally find a room for the night (or... day). Ray collapses in his bed and clings to the first person that's there.

Which happens to be Venkman.]

What a day, huh?

[Venkman groans a bit- he was so close to falling asleep- but after a moment he registers who's with him and relaxes into the embrace.]

Really was. Remind me not to tag along the next time a building tries to take you places.

C'mon Pete, if you didn't tag along you would have panicked and thought he was trying to kidnap me and eat me alive or something, I like to think tagging along was better.

[Ray nuzzles Venkman gently.]

Besides we're at the Sevii Islands now; didn't you wanna visit this place?

[He blearily opens an eye to look at Ray, before leaning over to plant a kiss to his forehead.]

Would've followed along eventually. Just, y'know, a while later. Long enough that I could take a nap on the ferry while you all handled the situation yourselves. And not have to cling to a giant monster for my life and get thrown right into the fray.

[Ray smiles fondly at the kiss, and holds Venkman a tiny bit closer to him.]

I betcha five bucks that the next time something like this happens you'll follow me without a second thought.

Better hope you don't get that opportunity to prove that bet. Don't think everyone else in this place wants another kidnapped-alien-on-ice and dimensional rip situation.

... Y'know, with everything said and done, I at least had, like, half a birthday for once, before everything went to hell. That's better than usual.

[Ray perks up at the mention of the birthday.]

Oh, that reminds me, there was something I wanted to give you earlier but that whole Aether thing kinda distracted me from it.

[He reluctantly lets go of Venkman and moves to root around his backpack.]

I'm worried it's not fully intact; with all that fighting I wasn't really thinking about being careful.

[Well, that does wake him up a bit more. He sits up a bit, eyeing Ray curiously.]

What is it- should I be worried about you getting a handful of broken glass digging around in there?

[Since if it's not fully intact, his first guess is something fragile...]

[Ray sticks his tongue out at Venkman.]

I'm not that careless, Peter.

[He pulls out a small box, slightly dented from the trip they've had, and hands it to Peter.]

You don't gotta have it now, especially if it did get squished, but I wanted to give this to you.

Sure you aren't.

[Venkman takes the box, his head tilted slightly to one side as he considers it.]

Yeah, Ray, I'm gonna sit here dying of anticipation all night instead of opening it now.

[And he does so! What's in the box?]

You're such a jerk.

[He says, as he lazily gets back into bed and drapes an arm over him.

In the box is a cute little cupcake! It is indeed a little squished from the adventure, but it still looks good. And it's funfetti flavored! =)

... There is also a piece of paper that looks suspiciously like the unlimited magnet train pass.]

[Venkman grins at the cupcake- God, Ray's adorable... And then he notices the pass and laughs, shaking his head.]

Ray, really... should I spend a whole day riding back and forth on the Magnet Train, make sure you got your money's worth?

[Judging by the delighted look on his face, he might just do exactly that. After a moment, he leans forward and kisses him.]

If you wanna, just make sure you visit me every now and again.

[He grins, happy that Venkman likes his present, and holds him close again.]

It's really the least I could do, as a thanks for when you decided to make me tutor you in our Engineering classes.

Oh, I'll try to at some point. No promises.

[He rolls his eyes a bit at the last comment, though.]

I know you're trying to be sentimental and cute about it, but I'm pretty sure I should be the one thanking you for that.

Maybe that’s more accurate. I’m still pretty sure a part of my soul died when you asked me when we were going to learn about trains.

[He gives Peter a find look and kisses him on the cheek.]

Still, I really am thankful. If it wasn’t for you I’d probably be bored and friendless in a job I hated. I’d probably be watching you and the guys saving the world from ghosts on tv one day and feel the worst sense of longing.

Never letting that one go, are you?

Nah, you kidding? We never could've made half our equipment without you. I definitely couldn't. ... And I'm pretty sure Spengs would've been dead from a lab accident years ago without both of us working together to keep him from going too far.

And even if we had somehow done it all without you, you'd literally just have to show up and we'd hire ya on the spot.

All those hours of my life, wasted...

[He will never let it go.

His expression softens at that, though.]

Aww Pete...

But would you hire me on the spot because you think I'd be good for the job or just because you love me?

Oh, I dunno... Maybe we'd've hire you as eye-candy around the office first, then figure out you're a genius down the line. You've got the looks and the brains for it.

[Ray laughs and pushes Venkman lightly.]

C'mon Pete, you're supposed to be a professional, you can't just hire people just because you're attracted to them!

... Besides, I'm not sure how Egon would take me if we hadn't met in college. He might see me as competition.

I'm a professional? Since when?

Aw, you'd win him over before long. Spengs can't resist that face any more than I can.

As long as he doesn't lock me out of the lab while he continues blowing himself up down there.

[He says, as if he doesn't blow himself up just as often.

Ray buries his face in the crook of Venkman's neck, thoughtful.]

Would that mean Win would have been around you guys for longer? I can only imagine how that would have ruined any sense of self preservation you have.

[Again, as if Ray isn't just as bad if not worse.]
